Real Madrid Finally Part Ways With Eden Hazard

Real Madrid and Eden Hazard have reached a mutual agreement to part ways, with the player’s departure scheduled for June 30, 2023.

After a four-season spell marked by underwhelming performances, Hazard’s time at the Spanish club is coming to an end.

Although the Belgian international had a contract until 2024 and expressed his desire to stay, Real Madrid made the decision for him to leave, resulting in the agreement.

While retirement is reportedly an option for the former Chelsea player, no final decision has been made regarding his future plans.

In the summer of 2019, Hazard moved to Real Madrid from Chelsea and became the team’s most expensive signing to that point. His time at the Santiago Bernabeu, however, has been hampered by a string of injury setbacks that have prevented him from fully integrating into the team and limiting his effect on the field.

Due to continuous injury issues, Hazard’s playing time has been significantly reduced this season. In total, he has only made ten appearances across all competitions including six in La Liga.

Since joining Real Madrid in 2019, Hazard has participated in 76 games, scoring seven goals and dishing out 12 assists.

Following Belgium’s early elimination from the 2022 World Cup in the group stage, the forward announced his retirement from international competition in December of last year.
