For the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, Pope Francis has named two auxiliary bishops.
They are Rev. Father (Fr.) Anthony Nary Asare and Rev. Father (Rev.) John Kobina Louis.
On Tuesday, Henryk Mieczyslaw Jagodzinski, the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, announced their appointment at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra and at the Vatican in Rome, Italy.
On November 24, 1964, in Accra, Ghana, Rev. Fr. Louis was born. In the Saint Peter’s Major Seminary in Pedu, he finished his studies in philosophy and theology.
For the Accra clergy, he received his ordination as a priest on July 18.
He served as the parish vicar of Our Lady of Mercy in Tema from 1992 to 1995, the parish administrator of Saint Joseph the Worker in Tema from 1995 to 1998, and finally the parish priest of Saint Joseph the Worker in Tema (1998-2002).
He completed his licentiate studies in sociology and religious studies at the Catholic University College of Ghana (1998-1991), and from 1996 to 2002, he was the director of the Pastoral Center and the bursar of the archbishop of Accra (1997-2002).
He was Our Lady of Mercy’s parish vicar in Tema from 1992 to 1995, Saint Joseph the Worker’s parish administrator in Tema from 1995 to 1998, and ultimately Saint Joseph the Worker’s parish priest in Tema (1998-2002).
He earned his licentiate degrees in sociology and religious studies at the Catholic University College of Ghana (1998–1991) and served as the bursar for the archbishop of Accra from 1996–2002. (1997-2002).
On September 29, 1965, in Odumase-Krobo, Ghana’s Eastern Region, Rev. Fr. Asare was born. He completed his studies in philosophy and theology at Saint Paul’s Seminaries in Sowutuom and Pedu, respectively, after attending Pope John Senior High School and the Minor Seminary in Koforidua.
On July 22, 1995, he was consecrated to the Accra clergy as a priest.
After being ordained, he first worked as the parish priest of the Martyrs of Uganda in Mamprobi (1995–1997), the Sacred Heart in Derby Avenue (1997–1999), Saint Peter’s in Osu (1995–2005), the bursar of the archbishop of Accra (2002–2008), and Saint Maroun’s in Tema (1995–2005). (2005-2008).
He continued his education at All Hallow’s College in Dublin, Ireland, where he earned master’s degrees in management, leadership and pastoral care, and supervision practice (2008-2012).
From 2013 to 2019, he was the parish priest of Saint Joseph the Worker in Tema. As of 2019, he is the parish priest of Saints Anne and Joachim in Teshie and the administrator of the clergy.
