Pacific International Lines (PIL) Broadens Middle East coverage

Pacific International Lines (PIL) is happy to announce the addition of a new route, dubbed as Gulf China Service 2, with the purpose of continuously boosting its connection from Asia and expanding its coverage of the Middle East (GC2). The new Gulf China Service (GCS) and China Gulf Service (CGS) from PIL are enhanced by GC2 (CSG).

The primary benefit of GC2 is that it will have direct calls to Jebel Ali in the United Arab Emirates as well as Sohar in Oman (UAE). Today, Jebel Ali, Dammam, and Hamad in Qatar are the calls for GCS in the Middle East, whereas Jebel Ali, Dammam, and Abu Dhabi in the UAE are the demands for CSG.

By increasing its presence in the Middle East with GC2, PIL will be able to improve its connectivity with China and South East Asia. PIL will be able to improve its global connectivity through the important Asian gateways of Singapore and Malaysia to its wide network in the Middle East thanks to this extra dedicated service.

A slot exchange arrangement with ESL Shipping will allow GC2 to launch on March 17, 2023, from Shanghai.

“We are adding the GC2 service to increase PIL’s footprint in the Middle East and capitalize on the growth potential of the region,” stated Mr. Tonnie Lim, Chief Trade Officer, PIL. This is also an endeavor by PIL to meet the demands of its clients globally for more thorough coverage of the Middle East.
