During a weekend meeting with Dr. Bawumia, this act of defiance took place.
Because of Kennedy Agyapong, the constituency chairman, Attakora Amaniammpong, had given the delegates strong instructions not to accept or wear any t-shirts displaying Dr. Bawumia.
But at their meeting with the Vice President, the delegates remained unified and made the decision to defy these authoritarian directives.
Chairman Amaniammpong had specifically instructed them not to receive or wear the t-shirts, according to polling station managers and election area coordinators. However, the delegates made the decision to defy this order as an act of defiance and support for Dr. Bawumia.
The head of a voting place offered his opinion on the situation, saying, “This is democracy. As a group and family, we are one. Why should Dr. Bawumia be treated badly only because a candidate is from here? How can we go out and campaign for Dr. Bawumia to become president if we treat him badly today? I am wearing his t-shirt because of this.
During the meeting, the participants warmly hugged Vice President Bawumia and praised him for his capable leadership.
This act of rebellion demonstrates their steadfast support for Dr. Bawumia and their readiness to resist unjust orders.
Assin Central Constituency is the last visit on Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s current campaign tour of the Central Region. The delegates have undoubtedly made a compelling case for Dr. Bawumia, even though it is unclear how their acts of rebellion would affect the current campaign.
