Al Arabiya sources claim that negotiations for a potential contract between Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante and Saudi Arabian champions Al Ittihad are almost complete.
If all goes as planned, Kante will play with fellow countryman Karim Benzema, who on Tuesday agreed to a three-year agreement with the Saudi team.
Since Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in December for more than $220 million annually, the Saudi Pro League has continued to draw star players.
According to local media, Saudi teams would also be after players like Sergio Busquets, Angel Di Maria, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Ramos in the upcoming months.
Lionel Messi, the captain of Argentina, reportedly received a formal offer to join Al Hilal, a source close to him told Reuters last month. The 35-year-old World Cup winner is expected to sign with Inter Miami in the US, though.
According to Saudi media, Kante’s contract is worth 100 million euros ($107 million) over two years.
Throughout his seven years at the club, the France international has been a constant at Stamford Bridge, making more than 260 appearances and taking home trophies in the Champions League, Premier League, Europa League, and FA Cup.
However, Kante missed the majority of the previous season due to a string of ailments. Without him, Chelsea battled to a 12th-place Premier League finish.
