Nam 1 To Make An Appearance In Court On April 25

The case of Nana Appiah Mensah, nicknamed NAM 1, Chief Executive Officer of Menzgold Ghana Ltd, who is accused of defrauding clients of their deposits totaling GH1.6 billion, has been postponed to April 25 by an Accra Circuit Court.

Because the prosecution notified the court that the police were still awaiting the Attorney General’s advice, Relieving Judge Mrs. Afia Owusua Appiah postponed the case.

The Court declared that the case would be postponed while it awaited any developments from the Office of the Attorney General.

When it was called, Sylvester Asare’s deputy, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Haligah, stated that the police were still awaiting the Attorney General’s opinion.

As a result, he prayed for a date.

Ms. Audrey Twumn, who also served as Kwame Boafo’s legal counsel for the defendant, and the prosecution decided on a time.

The accused person has previously appeared in court 33 times in the previous two years.

61 charges against Nana Mensah include aiding and abetting criminal activity, deceiving under false pretenses, operating a deposit-taking business without a license, selling minerals without a license, unlawful deposit-taking, and money laundering.

The accused has refuted the allegations, and on July 26, 2019, the court granted him bail in the amount of GH1 billion with five sureties, three of whom had to provide justification.

In anticipation of the case’s resolution, the court ordered him to report to the police every Wednesday.
