The club made the news regarding the Cameroonian goalkeeper on Thursday after finalizing a contract worth €51 million (£43.8 million), with the possibility of €4 million (£3.4 million) in add-ons.
The 27-year-old replaces David De Gea, who left the club after a 12-year stay and signed a five-year contract with an option to extend by another year.
The former Inter Milan goalkeeper has reconnected with Erik Ten Hag, the coach he shared at Ajax Amsterdam, and hopes to begin a fresh chapter with the Dutch coach once more.
In his acceptance speech, Onana said, “Joining Manchester United is an amazing honor. I have fought hard my entire life to reach to this point, overcoming many hurdles along the way.
“Another incredible experience will be going out to Old Trafford to defend our goal and help the squad. With new teammates and new goals to pursue, this is the beginning of a new journey for me.

After just one season, Onana leaves the former Serie A winners. The outstanding goalkeeper made 41 appearances for the Nerazzurri last season in all competitions, including the Champions League final against Manchester City, which resulted in a 1-0 loss. Onana, though, excelled in goal and showed off his superb distribution abilities.
He will travel with the group to the United States on their preseason tour, where they will likely face Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid, Wrexham, and Arsenal.
