According to sources, Lionel Messi’s chances of leaving Paris Saint-Germain to complete a sensational return to Barcelona are growing.

Because Barcelona’s poor financial situation prevented them from negotiating a new deal, the iconic 35-year-old moved to Paris in the summer of 2021, ending a 21-year affiliation with the club.

Messi’s departure shocked the football community because he had been expected to play his whole career with Barcelona, according to club officials, fans, and the player himself.

Although negotiations for a new deal have been cordial, PSG’s prospects of locking down Messi have fast faded, and discussions have taken place with other interested parties.

Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia has made an offer, and David Beckham’s Inter Miami has also approached Messi with a proposal. Both have been taken into consideration.

But with the Catalan giants so eager to get Messi back to Barcelona, the fairytale reunion is starting to take on a more plausible appearance.

Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, made it obvious that he wanted to re-sign Messi even before the World Cup, and insiders have told 90min that the star has changed his mind about working with Laporta. In fact, his father Jorge just had meetings with Laporta, and it is believed that they went well.

As he prepares to play for Argentina in friendlies against Panama and Curacao, Messi will make his first appearances since the World Cup. If he scores two goals in both games, he would pass Cristiano Ronaldo and Ali Daei to become the third player in history to reach 100 goals for a country.

Although Messi concentrates on problems on the field, his agents are negotiating contract specifics with potential suitors. Sources have told the media that Messi is getting closer to returning to Barcelona and that the favorable conclusion for his family is expected to have a significant impact on his decision.

Barcelona’s ongoing financial issues make it challenging to reach a deal, but Laporta confirmed in an interview with American YouTuber Joe Pompliano that Messi can still return through the club.

Messi is the greatest player in history, a product of our academy, and a significant figure in our history. He is also a member of PSG, and for that, we must show respect.

When I returned, the legacy was not positive, and I had to make decisions. Nonetheless, I need to find a way to strengthen the bond between Messi and us; we shall see. Messi is aware that we love him and consider him a member of our club.

I can’t say more, but we’ll see. He is aware that Barcelona’s doors are open, but we respect the fact that he is currently with PSG and enjoying himself immensely with Argentina.
