Actor and politician John Dumelo of Ghana has announced that he will run for office in the Ayawaso West-Wuogon constituency of the opposition National Democratic Party (NDC).

On Sunday, February 26, 2023, he posted a social media announcement about it.
Mr. Dumelo announced in a Twitter that he has decided to launch a comeback following some consideration.
“After thorough deliberation with my family, God, and the Ayawaso West Wuogon party faithful! The second coming has arrived.
In the 2020 parliamentary vote, Lydia Alhassan of the NPP defeated Dumelo. He received 37,478 votes, or 48.30% of the vote, while Lydia Alhassan received 39,851 votes, or 51.36%.
