According to Mr. Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, AG. Director, Schools and Instructions Divisions, it is illegal for Heads of Schools to register BECE candidates who have not been approved. Also, it was noted that only pupils enrolled in Junior High School Form Three (JHS 3) may register as candidates for the BECE.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and Ghana Education Service (GES) rules and regulations prohibit registering JHS1 and JHS2 children in their own schools or in other schools to take the BECE, hence any Heads of Basic Schools who do so would be labeled for doing so.

One more time, it is UNLAWFUL for any Head of Public Basic School to register JHS3 pupils from another School (Public or Private) to Write the BECE.

BEWARE AND TAKE ACTION FOR VICTIMS
The Head of Schools were also informed about the registration audit by GES. After the registration process, “there will be an audit of the BECE registered candidates,” they declared. Any student whose registration is discovered to have been made in violation will have it NULLIFIED by WAEC, and the responsible Headmaster will face severe repercussions as a deterrence.

DATE FOR BECE REGISTRATION GES emphasized the importance of carefully adhering to the WAEC-set registration deadline in order to prevent late registration.
