Christian Atsu, a Ghanaian international, has passed away, according to his club Hatayspor. He was 31.
Atsu perished in the terrible earthquake that struck Turkey on February 6.
The player’s two agents had earlier submitted statements to that effect, and the Turkish club verified the news in the early hours of Saturday.
Friends and family members of the footballer had been anxiously awaiting any good news regarding a miracle escape from the tragedy since the terrible earthquake in Turkey 12 days prior.
But, Atsu’s death was confirmed numerous times after his Turkish agent, Murat Uzunmehmet, first broke the terrible news at 5:00 a.m. Ghana time.
Before Mubarak Wakaso, one of Atsu’s closest pals, took to Twitter with a brief message reading “Rest Well,” other Turkish media agencies broke the news.
The player’s agent Nana Sechere, who has provided verifiable information about the player’s status in light of reports from Hatay, subsequently took action.
“I beg that everyone would kindly respect the privacy of the family during this very difficult time while we make the required arrangements.”
The Ghanaian actor’s employer, Hatayspor, then made its first remarks on Atsu since the beginning of the episode.
The team announced that “Christian Atsu’s body would be sent to his native Ghana.”
