Marco Asensio, Mariano, and Eden Hazard all announced their departures on Saturday; he follows them.

In a statement released by the club on Sunday, it was stated that “Real Madrid and our captain Karim Benzema have agreed to bring to an end his brilliant and unforgettable time as a player at our club.”

Real Madrid wishes to express its appreciation and love for the guy who is already regarded as one of our greatest legends.

“Karim Benzema joined our club in 2009 at the age of just 21, and he has played a crucial role in this illustrious period of our history.

“He has won 25 titles, a record number for Real Madrid, throughout the 14 seasons he has defended our badge and our shirt: five European Cups, five Club World Cups, four UEFA Super Cups, four LaLiga titles, three Copa del Rey titles, and four Spanish Super Cups.

“Karim Benzema won the 2022 Pichichi Trophy and is currently the Ballon d’Or and UEFA Player of the Year. He is also a member of the FIFA FIFPRO XI.

“These accolades were given out during one of the most spectacular seasons in history, particularly in the Champions League, where our captain had standout performances that helped Real Madrid win the 14th European Cup while also leading this competition in goals scored with 15.

With 647 appearances, Karim Benzema has donned our jersey the fifth-most times and is Real Madrid’s second-leading scorer all-time with 353 goals.

In addition, he is second all-time for Real Madrid in goals scored in La Liga and the European Cup. He is also the fourth-highest scorer in LaLiga history and the fourth-highest scorer in the history of the Champions League.

“Karim Benzema’s Real Madrid career has been a model of conduct and professionalism, and it has exemplified the ideals of our club.

“Karim Benzema has the freedom to choose how he wants to live his life.

“Madridistas and supporters from all over the world have loved his magical and distinctive brand of game, making him one of the greatest legends of both our club and world sport.

Real Madrid is and will always be his home, and we wish him and his family the best as they enter this new phase of their lives.
